Independent Study: Lancaster Festival Field Production

One of the more enjoyable parts of teaching at Ohio University – Lancaster is the campus’ connection with the Lancaster Festival. The field behind Herrold Hall becomes a rock amphitheater for two weeks during the summer. The Electronic Media department has worked with the Festival committee to document all of the artistic elements that make up the festival. Our majors had the pleasure of producing the concert film for the Journey cover band, Frontiers

This year, we plan on recording and producing a video of the Unforgettable Fire’s concert at the Wendel Concert Stage. I created a class to support my students’ effort and creating learning opportunities during our production schedule. The primary focus for the course was to structure the process of field production into the pre-production, production, and post-production stages that are required for the successful creation of a media product of this nature.
